Nourison Red Timeless Area Rug – TML17
Truly timeless, these designs date back as far as the 15th Century and have graced the palaces of ancient aristocracy and royalty. Nourison’s talented designers and master craftsmen have reimagined those precious heirlooms – now only seen in museums and private collections – reproducing their spectacular detail and color to enrich the homes of today. In depth of color, detail of design, and pure artistry, the Timeless Collection recreates the opulence of the past for today’s discerning decorators.
Alive with exceptional vibrancy, this exquisitely detailed floral extravaganza is the reincarnation of a magnificent 17th century Agra textile. Now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s renowned Robert Lehman Collection, the original is an impressive court piece of nearly 23 feet in length. Despite fading and wear, the antique textile still dazzles the eye with saturated hues of crimson, ebony, jade and gold. Its richly foliate design reaches through the centuries with the power of nature’s life-force. Order is attained through a symmetrical pattern radiating out from a line of central palmettes and enclosed within a broad tripartite border. In Nourison’s interpretation, the fertile floral display is resplendent in sparkling gold, jade and sapphire details woven upon a regal crimson ground. Strikingly brilliant, with a flowing yet symmetrical aesthetic, the marvelous vitality of this masterwork fills the room with energy and warmth.
